Description – STAMP FACTORY ADAPTIVE RE-USE
Location of Project – SURRY HILLS
Year Project Commenced – 1991
When sold, the Stamp factory achieved a Suburb record for this type of residence in Surry Hills.
The first major MHDP project this adaptive re-use of a rubber stamp factory into a private residence and art studio was inspired by the Client’s requirement for ‘Stonehenge-like’ use of light. Recycling much of the original fabric the old building was opened up to create a dynamic series of internal and external spaces.
Enjoyed and appreciated by the original residents for many decades, once they were finally ready to move on the new owners recognised MHDP’s unique history with the place and engaged them to create a new two-storey pavilion over the original artists studio.
