Description – BOARDING HOUSE REFURBISHMENT PROJECT
Location of Project – NORTH SYDNEY
Year Project Commenced – 2015 – PRESENT
MHDP Architects has been involved in a wide range of educational projects over the last 30 years of practice. This has culminated in MHDP now being one of the regular architects for SHORE School and Wenona School in North Sydney. For both those schools MHDP has worked collaboratively with the school’s facilities team, project managers, consultants and builders to consistently provided value, commitment and results on time.
MHDP have been involved in a number of key refurbishment projects for the school since 2015, including the periodical roll-out over this period of the refurbishment of their four boarding houses. This process included redesign of all internal finishes and fully re-serviced spaces and implementation of upgraded fire and electrical services.
As part of the boarding house refurbishment project, MHDP designed, documented and tested a new suite of dormitory furniture. These were designed as a “kit of parts” that was configurable to allow for a variety of possible layouts, as required for each room and dormitory type.
The new dorm furniture became a key part of re-branding the boarding house dormitories as well as providing an equitable, private and visually refreshed sleeping and studying quarters for each dorm student.
Each of the dorm’s wet areas and common spaces were also refurbished to fit SHORE’s colour theme and to meet new quality standards.
During this project, MHDP Architects worked closely with the School’s Project Manager, Facilities Managers and the builder, Carfax Commercial Constructions
