MHDP ARCHITECTS, ‘DAKOTA’
Dakota holds a firm and alluring relationship to its environment — forms shaped by not only a strong client interest in Halvorsen boats and mid-century aircraft, but the rocky Pittwater setting. Creative in its curvature, thus enabling the most to be made of the prized waterside location, the use of sandstone pens a strong narrative while noting the material’s presence around the Hawkesbury River. Five levels and defined areas, a central staircase and wondrous use of orientation to capture differing Pittwater aspects, all matched by landscaped grounds that hold a ‘natural’ amphitheatre and spill neatly to the water.
