RESIDENTIAL
MHDP Architects has designed new homes and alterations and additions since 1991. Between 2003 and 2025, 11 of our homes set 21 property records across 8 suburbs. Each home starts from a detailed brief of the way our clients live, and we design to a budget that is set early and controlled at each stage.
MULTI-RESIDENTIAL
MHDP Architects designs multi-residential projects with the same attention to the way people live that we give to a single home. Our property development and real estate knowledge lets us read the site, the context and the planning controls to reach the full potential of the site. We design to the return as well as the brief.
COMMERCIAL/PUBLIC
MHDP Architects has worked on a broad range of commercial and public projects since 1991, including the upgrade of Glen Street Theatre in Belrose. For each project we develop a detailed brief with the client and the end users, so that the building works efficiently and is a joy to work and trade in. We work closely with councils, consultants and builders to control programme, budget and outcome.
MASTER PLANNING
MHDP Architects prepares masterplans that find where the value of a site is and how to reach its full potential. We read the local context, past, present and future, together with the planning controls, to set a clear approach to development. Staged development lets our clients plan finance and build in sequence.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
MHDP Architects offers project management in-house, so that one team can take a project from first sketch to occupation. We keep close control of programme, budget and outcome, with clear and direct communication between client, builder, consultants and council. Our relationships with builders are measured in decades, with some collaborations spanning 20+ projects since 2006.
HERITAGE
MHDP Architects provides heritage advice in-house and has worked on various heritage projects. We read the past, present and future of a place, and we look to protect, restore and enhance the urban and natural environment. Where we can, we recycle, reuse and adapt existing buildings so that they work for a new use.
EDUCATION
MHDP Architects has been involved in a wide range of Education sector projects over the last 35 years of practice. This has culminated in our role as one of the regular architects for two independent schools in North Sydney. For both schools we have worked collaboratively with the school’s facilities team, project managers, consultants and builders to consistently provide value, commitment and results on time.
INTERIORS
For MHDP, interiors are just as important as the exterior of our buildings. As part of the design process we carefully consider the interiors, from ensuring an overall liveable and workable layout through to detail design of joinery, lighting and finishes.
CINEMAS
MHDP Architects has completed specialty work on a number of cinemas projects. Each cinema starts from a detailed brief of how the venue operates, from the foyer through to the auditoriums, so that it works efficiently and is a joy to visit. We bring our commercial and property knowledge to each project, so that the design supports the return to the operator.
DENTAL
MHDP Architects has worked on 69 dental surgeries. Each surgery starts from a detailed brief of the clinical workflow, the equipment and the patient experience, so that it works efficiently and is a joy to work in. We coordinate the services and equipment with consultants and suppliers from the first layout through to completion.
MOTORSPORT
MHDP Architects has unique experience delivering motorsport projects. Each brief brings together the needs of the cars, the people who drive them and the site. We bring our property development knowledge to these projects, so that the design supports the financial return as well as the experience.
NORTHERN BEACHES
MHDP Architects has designed 204 homes on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. We know the planning controls, Northern Beaches Council, the coastal sites and the local builders well. From Seaforth to Avalon, our homes respond to the sun, breeze, view and neighbours of each site.
SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS
MHDP Architects designs homes and projects in the Southern Highlands from our base in Sydney. Each project starts from the place: the landscape, the climate, the local character and the planning controls of the area. We design for northern sun, shelter from cold winters and views across the landscape, with building methods developed with local builders to suit the site and the budget.
DUPLEXES
MHDP Architects designs duplexes that reach the full potential of a site under the planning controls. Each duplex starts from a detailed brief for two homes that each live well on their own, with their own light, privacy and outdoor space. We bring our property development and real estate knowledge to the design, so that each home suits its market and the project suits its budget.
